Strive courageously, my spirits, the highest point has not yet been reached! Whoever is not yet master of life, struggle until he climbs it! Will the time come again when the heart swims in joy, all suffering is taken from those whom love takes away. Already in my mirror a world full of lust shines for me, and life stirs its wings mightily in my breast.

Twigs wave like flags of joy, dawn is love's glow, and the birds' sweet admonition enter my bosom. I want to sing songs again, life, understand you again, and walk through the green valleys on your light wings.

Nickel Wedding

Love sat as a nightingale in the rose bush and sang. The wonderfully sweet sound flew along the green forest. And as it sounded, the scent rose in a circle from a thousand cups, and all the treetops rustled softly, and the air moved softly. The brooks were silent, which had scarcely been rippled by the hights, the deer stood as in a dream and listened to the sound. And brighter and brighter the sun's splendor flowed in.

A golden red glow spilled out around flowers, forest and ravine. But I went along the path and also heard the sound. Ah, what I have sung since that hour was only its echo. No farewell, no anxious parting! I'd much rather be divorced! I can endure any suffering, but I cannot drink it like wine. Yesterday we were still sitting together, I hardly knew about the separation myself!

The heart drove its old flames, the soul spun the old dream. Then a quick kiss from the dear lips, not soaked in pain, not shortened by fear! That's what I call a farewell hour that spices up empty eternities.
